Objective: To highlight the current policy landscape for Carbon Farming in Europe and explore how evolving agricultural and climate frameworks – particularly the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Certification Framework (CRCF) – can support an inclusive and credible transition toward regenerative land management.
Organisers: DG Clima, DG AGRI, JRC, Climate KIC
Panellists: Christian Holzleitner, Eric Soubeiran, Bill Callanan, Jocelyn Gainche, Daniel Zimmer (moderator)
Objective: To explore technical, financial, and practical challenges in building a robust and harmonised European MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) system for Carbon Farming—while identifying solutions that reduce complexity, ensure credibility, and align with certification needs across ecosystems, scales, and stakeholder groups.
Organiser: Hannes Mollenhauer (UFZ)
Panellists: Tessa van der Voort, Greet Ruysschaert, Edouard Lanckriet, Ahmad Al Bitar, Liv Toonen, Véronique Chauvin, Roberta Mac Donald, Marco Alves
Objective: To spotlight pioneering farmers who are leading the transition toward climate-positive agriculture, unpack their motivations, challenges, and experiences, and explore how they can act as “lighthouses” to inspire broader systemic change.
Organiser: Tristano Bacchetti De Gregoris (SAE Innova)
Panellists: Sheila Darmos, Mateusz Ciasnocha, Iain Tolhurst, Rob Smith (moderator)
Objective: To examine the effect of the introduction of a new policy, the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming regulation, and its interactions with different policy areas that intersect with Carbon Farming in the EU, including climate, agricultural, and nature policy, as well as financing and business regulation. The session aimed to explore how the different policies and instruments can learn or borrow from each other to maximise synergies and avoid tensions, resulting in a coherent policy mix that is conducive for robust Carbon Farming at scale.
Organiser: Mathieu Mal (European Environmental Bureau)
Panellists: Lucia Perugini, Hugh McDonald, Andrew Voysey, Alan Matthews
Objective: To reflect on the key outcomes of the summit from multiple stakeholder perspectives – including policy, science, industry, and farming – and to identify strategic priorities for enabling a systemic transition to climate-positive agriculture across Europe.
